A couple of highlights to wrap up Stockholm - Locations for the Nobel Prize activities and The Vasa Museum

The Nobel Prize is everywhere in Stockholm.  Will all this unexpected knowledge help me at trivia?

Here's the exterior of Stockholm Concert Hall where the Nobel Prizes are awarded.  The square at the front accommodates a very uninspiring market and many of the city's homeless have settled there.

The City Hall is a far more pleasant location for the Nobel Dinner.

This is the Blue Room where the dinner takes place.   Not a sign of blue as the architect decided it looked better unpainted!

The Gold Room where they dance the night away.  Every inch covered in gold mosaic....well named!

One of the many reception rooms  - a Blue Room!

The Municipal Council meets here.  The magnificent ceiling is based in an upturned Viking ship.

You need a day to fully experience the displays in the Vasa Museum.  We only had a couple of hours.  The museum displays the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged.  The 64 gun Vasa sank in Stockholm 15 minutes into her maiden voyage in 1628.  It's so enormous that the model's the best way of giving some idea of what's there.

The stern of the Vasa with all it's intricate carvings that were beautifully painted.

The bow of the ship with it's intricate carvings.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Stockholm and would return in a flash!
