Today's highlight was a tour of the Royal Swedish Opera. Built just over 100 years ago to replace the original house. The banner out front shows the drawcard for me. An exhibition to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Birgit Nilsson - my favourite Brunnhilde! There's a big Sydney Opera House connection. In 1973, Nilsson was the soloist at the first performance in the Concert Hall with a program of works by Wagner. Before my opera days but it's on YouTube - bless the ABC!
Oh and chandeliers feature along with art nouveau buildings and heaters! Some magnificent examples throughout the house.
Such a groupie....standing in front of Birgit's Brunnhilde costume!
Costumes from some of Birgit's other performances....
The closest I'll ever get to performing in an opera chorus....The Rehearsal Room!
My reward - Stromterassen at Royal Swedish Opera overlooking Lake Maralen.
Views from the cafe.... Stockholm is situated on 14 lakes - hence a lot of bridges!
Not The Little Mermaid but a fisherman in front of the Stockholm Palace!
